Hospital Partner Spotlight: SSM Cancer Care at St. Clare Health Center

SSM Cancer Care is a dedicated cancer hospital comprised of six locations throughout metropolitan St. Louis. Accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, SSM Cancer Care provides a comprehensive program designed to treat the entire patient, including physical, emotional and spiritual needs, as well as needs of family members and caregivers.

In the SSM Cancer Care model, a multidisciplinary team of doctors and other medical professionals provide patient care. The SSM Cancer Care Clinical Practice Committee examines evidence-based treatment options and protocols as documented in National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines. Additionally, Tumor Boards, interactive gatherings of doctors and staff who may be involved in a patient’s care, are held regularly to discuss individual cases. During these meetings, physicians discuss the patient’s case as a group and review information firsthand to determine the best treatment options for a patient. This collaboration among doctors from various specialties is part of what allows SSM Cancer Care to provide the best and most efficient care to patients.

SSM Cancer Care at St. Clare Health Center opened in 2009 when St. Clare opened as the first full-service hospital to be built in St. Louis County in 35 years. St. Clare is a 180-bed facility and a member of SSM Health Care-St. Louis. More than 900 area doctors are on the St. Clare medical staff.
