Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Lung Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated each November to raise awareness for the second most common cancer in both men and women. The American Cancer Society estimates 5,410 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed in Missouri this year.
Below are a few ways to support the fight against lung cancer:
- Get Connected: Lung Cancer Connection is a St. Louis-based organization dedicated to providing support for lung cancer patients. The group hosts events, like their 5K Run/Walk held November 2, special programs and provides lung cancer resources in the area. For more information, visit their website.
- Get Screened. Early detection is crucial to determining the best treatment method for a diagnosis. St. Louis CyberKnife’s hospital partner SSM St. Clare offers preventive screenings for lung cancer to certain patients. - Learn About Lung Cancer. Read more about the disease in our lung cancer blog series.
St. Louis CyberKnife treats lung tumors with stereotactic body radiation therapy using CyberKnife® technology. Read more about the treatment here.
