Patient Safety Awareness Week: Questions to Ask Your Doctor at Your Consultation

This week we are celebrating Patient Safety Awareness Week, a national effort to raise awareness of health care safety launched by the National Patient Safety Foundation.

At St. Louis CyberKnife, we work hard to ensure patients are fully educated, prepared and comfortable before receiving treatment. Here are a few questions to ask your doctor or the CyberKnife nurse navigator prior to treatment.

  • How can I prepare the day before treatment?
  • What can I expect during treatment?
  • Will my treatment require recovery time? If so, what can I expect during recovery?
  • Is there anything I shouldn’t do while receiving treatment?
  • How can my family and friends prepare for my treatment? Are there resources available to them?

Talk with your doctor about any and all concerns as you prepare for cancer treatment. Open conversations will help you to be prepared throughout the treatment process as well as ease anxiety that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

If you or a loved one have any additional questions or would like to receive more information about CyberKnife® treatment, please contact us. For videos on the CyberKnife treatment process, view our YouTube channel.
