SSM Health Cancer Care and St. Louis Cyberknife To Host Educational Event For National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
SSM Health, a not-for-profit health system serving the comprehensive health needs of communities across the Midwest, and Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc., a leading national provider of outsourced radiology, oncology and interventional services, announced today that SSM Health Cancer Care and St. Louis CyberKnife are hosting a free educational dinner in recognition of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
The topic for the evening is “Prostate Cancer: What You Need to Know” and is open to all community residents interested in learning more about prostate cancer treatment options and access to care. Speakers for the event will be Mike “Bing” Crosby, Commander United States Navy Retired, and John Bedwinek, M.D., Radiation Oncologist with SSM Health Cancer Care.
Mike Crosby is a prostate cancer survivor and current President of Green Life USA. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Prostate Cancer Awareness (VPCa), an organization dedicated to promoting prostate cancer awareness among military veterans and active duty military members. Mike will speak about prostate cancer treatment options and resources that are available to veterans because of their military service.
John Bedwinek, M.D. is a graduate of Columbia University and completed his fellowship at the prestigious University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Bedwinek has more than 30 years of experience treating prostate cancer with special interest in stereotactic body radiotherapy and brachytherapy.
