SSM Health Sponsors Series of Prostate Cancer Screenings

St. Louis CyberKnife recently participated in a series of prostate cancer screenings, sponsored by SSM Health, in recognition of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

The free screenings were held from 4 – 7:00 p.m. at four different locations in the greater St. Louis area and were open for men ages 50 – 69 years of age.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in American men.  About one in seven men will get prostate cancer during his lifetime.  According to the American Cancer Society, there will be about 4,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in Missouri during the year 2015.

There are numerous benefits of prostate cancer screening.  Finding and treating prostate cancer early offers men more treatment options with potentially fewer side effects and the disease is often curable with early detection (90% or better).

St. Louis CyberKnife was proud to participate in such important health screenings.  The series was a huge success and over 400 men were screened during the four events!
