St. Louis CyberKnife and SSM Health Cancer Care Host Prostate Event
St. Louis CyberKnife, along with SSM Health Cancer Care, recently hosted an educational prostate event in honor of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
The event, held Wednesday, September 27, in the Garden Level Conference Center at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital was a free educational dinner for the residents in our communities. Doors opened at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m., and the speaker presentations started at 6 p.m. Lots of great St. Louis Cardinals swag, including two pairs of tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs game, was given away.
The topic for the evening was “Prostate Cancer: What You Need to Know” and speakers Mike Crosby, Commander United States Navy Retired, and John Bedwinek, M.D., Radiation Oncologist with SSM Health Cancer Care, discussed prostate cancer treatment options and access to care. They also opened the floor up for Q&A and answered several well thought out and helpful questions.
In addition to the speakers, staff from various hospital departments and service lines had tables and gave out information. The team from St. Louis CyberKnife handed out informative prostate cancer and CyberKnife collateral and gave tours of the center.
The night was a huge success with over 50 men in attendance. St. Louis CyberKnife was proud to co-host such an important event that educated men on prostate cancer and their treatment options. We look forward to hosting many more similar events in the future!
